What is Folio?

Welcome to the companion Wiki for SKETCH Folio!

Before introducing you to what this wiki (library of definitions) is, we should tell you about Folio.

Folio is a SKETCH’s developed chronicling tool that helps artists map their goals, track their progress, find the words to talk and write about their work, and link them directly to artistic opportunities. We believe that acquiring these skills will benefit artistic creativity and elevate artists’ ability to access their dreams.

So you’ve created some great artwork- and Folio is there to help track your progress and connect you with further opportunities. Progress can be difficult to monitor or even realize sometimes. This site has been created to support artists using the SKETCH Folio digital tool by:

  • Giving you access to supplemental resources to help you navigate the Folio Toolset, in order to grow your artistic practice.
  • Help you develop and communicate the skills you’ve learned in the process of creating radical art.
  • There are good insights here too, if you are looking to develop your artistic practice in general.

If you have landed on this page and you want to become a member of the Folio Digital Toolset, you must be an emerging SKETCH artist, who self-identify with this criteria:

  • 16-29 years old
  • who are navigating poverty, living homeless or are otherwise experiencing barriers to success through systemic injustices lived by BIPOC, the LGBTQ2S+ community
  • This includes people with visible and invisible disabilities, and/or people struggling with mental health issues.

We hope to enable the transformative power of the arts by creating an environment where artists can build leadership and creative self-sufficiency, and cultivate social and environmental change.
